Deacon JB HarringtonSeptember 9, 1941 ~ July 3, 2017 (age 75)
Beloved Mr. JB Harrington was born May 28, 1932 in Yazoo County, MS, he transitioned to his heavenly home Monday, July 3, 2017 in Jackson, MS. He had many active rolls during his life course, such as being a member of the Prince Hall Masons, Chaplain of the Boys' Baseball Association and board member of the Farish Street YMCA. Mr. Harrington was also recognized by the MS Democratic Party, NAACP, and organizations in the Labor Movement as a "Trailblazer". He was the first black precinct captain for then Precinct 24, in Shady Oaks; labor union organizer in the Teamsters organization, and working with voter registration under the leadership of Medgar and Charles Evers.
Visitation will be held on July 6, 2017 at Peoples Funeral Home between the hours of 12-5 PM. Wake service will be at Cade Chapel between the hours of 6-8 PM located at 1000 Ridgeway Street, Jackson, MS. Funeral Service will be held on July 7, 2017 at Cade Chapel at 11:00 AM. Under the direction of Rev. Reginald Buckley, Senior Pastor.
Mr. J.B. Harrington will Lay in state from 10-11 am at Cade Chapel located at 1000 Ridgeway Street Jackson, MS. Interment will be Garden Memorial Park, Hwy 49 North Jackson, MS
