Mother Terlena Daniels transitioned peacefully unto the Lord on the afternoon of Saturday, June 15, 2019, in Jackson, Mississippi
Terlena Daniels, Mother Daniels, as we know her, received her early education in a one-room church schoolhouse. She completed the 8th grade and later in life received her Associate degree from Divinity School.
Terlena James-Daniels was born February 11, 1917, to the late parents, Maggie James and Spencer James of Pocahontas, Mississippi.
Terlena accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She was raised in a Christian environment. Her father, Spencer James, (also known as Big Papa to the grandchildren), was a deacon at Pine Grove Baptist Church, for many years.
Terlena met and married the love of her life, Eddie Lee Daniels on October 18, 1938. They were married for 49 years. He preceded her in death, March 11, 1988. Seven children were born to this successful union.
Terlena enjoyed participating in many activities during her active life. She was a member of the Rocky Hill Women’s Institute, Mount Center District Congress of Christian education, and a member of the original Hope Spring Association. Terlena attended the National Baptist Convention annually and traveled abroad to the International convention as well. She devoted her life to sharing the love she received from Christ to all she touched. She was a Sunday School teacher, a servant leader of the Mother Board and the Mission ministry. Additionally, she was a faithful member of New Stranger’s Home Missionary Baptist Church.
