Mr. Billy Joe Buckhaulter  was born on October 5, 1935, to the union of the late Booker T. Buckhaulter, Sr. and Myrtle Robinson Buckhaulter in Florence, Mississippi. Billy accepted Christ as his Lord, and Savior at an early age Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. He later became a faithful member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and was active in the Men's Club.

After completing his formal education at McLaurin High School, he entered the Air Force in 1954 and served for 4 years. After leaving with an Honorable Discharge, he joined the Army Reserve where he completed his military service for 27 years.

Billy worked as an employee at the V.A. Hospital for 22 years. After retiring, he worked as a security guard at Hawkins Field for many years until he became ill on August 3, 2018. Billy was a devoted, loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, father-in-law, uncle and friend. Though Billy is gone from our lives his spirit and legacy will forever live on in hearts.

Visitation hours have been set for Thursday, August 30, 2018, between the hours of 12-6 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home, a Rosary Service will promptly follow from 6-7 p.m. also at Peoples Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, located at 820 Forest Ave. Jackson, MS 39206. Interment will follow at Lakewood Cemetery in Clinton, MS.

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
