It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Retired police officer Sgt. Kenneth Stemmons. Kenneth Wayne Stemmons was born to the late Frank and Nadine Bently Stemmons on April 19, 1946. He was the sixth of twelve children. He accepted Christ at a young age at the Monroe Street Baptist Church in Springfield, IL. He attended and graduated from the Springfield, IL. Public School District. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Koren War. After serving our country he returned to Springfield to work with the National Railroad Services. Later in 1973, he relocated to Jackson, MS and attended Jackson State University. In 1975, he entered the Jackson Police Academy and graduated and became a Patrolman, he obtained titles such as Sergeant, Jail Supervisor, Court Bailiff, and lastly before retirement in 2008, a Supervisor of Vehicle Management. Stemmons served with JPD for 33 years he was respected and loved by many.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at Greater Bethlehem Tempel, located at 1505 Robinson Street, Jackson, MS.
