Mr. Ruben "Donnell" Anderson, Jr. was born on August 21, 1950 to the late Ruben “Son” Anderson and Beatrice “Blue” (Arnold) Anderson in Terry, Mississippi.  He was the third eldest of 12 children.  He departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, July 09, 2019 while sleeping in Terry, Mississippi.

Donnell as he was fondly called was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Wade Missionary Baptist Church in Terry, Mississippi.

As a young child, Donnell attended Mt. Wade School until the sixth grade.  He then attended Perrymon Junior High School until the seventh grade.  He received his GED from the Job Corps of America.

After leaving the Job Corps of America, he obtained a job with the Iron Workers Union until he became disabled.  Throughout the years he worked on other projects such as Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Plant and the new Mississippi River Bridge.  He also worked as a cement finisher which he learned the trade from his father.  He worked cement finishing for many years

Donnell was formerly married to Patricia Terry and to this union, one son was born.  His contributions to Christian responsibilities were reflected in his loving kindness to all he was close to.  His Christian responsibilities were reflected by his giving love, shelter, and care for his family, friends and anyone who needed a place to stay or a bite to eat.

If you knew Donnell, you know he loved hunting, fishing, and horses.  He was a lover of music, a fun-loving brother, uncle and cousin.  He was also hard of hearing, that is why he talked so loud and he loved to joke.

He was preceded in death by his loving father and mother, “Son” and “Blue” Anderson, one sister and four brothers – Murlene, Richard, John, Paul, and James.

He leaves his loving memories to his son, Laruben “Hootie”Anderson of Terry, MS; 5 sisters: Janice Anderson Ervin, Rosetta Anderson, Thomisene Anderson, Edith (Paul) Hilliard, and Tolla Anderson all of Jackson, Mississippi; 1 brother, Derrick (Brenda) Anderson of Jackson, MS; 4 grandchildren: Tahjel and Nyja Anderson of Dallas, TX and Zoie and Isabella Love Anderson of Jackson, MS; 5 nieces: Makeba Singleton, Chrisyatta Anderson, Melanie Anderson, LaToya Haley, Najla Larkin all of Jackson, MS, and Akemi Harrison of Pittsburgh, PA;  2 aunts: Delores Arnold and Cleo Arnold both of Jackson, MS; 14 great nieces and nephews; and 2 special cousins who were more like sisters: Carrol Domino of Jackson, MS and Laura “Muffy” Lyles of Terry, MS and a host of other relatives and friends.
