Our Beloved Mr. Wlater Lee Tabb, Jr. 29, returned to his heavenly home on February 16, 2019. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him throughout his life and was evident in his service to others.
Walter was born to Walter, Sr. and Linda Tabb, in Jackson, MS on August 25, 1989. He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his life-long support from an early age. He joined Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church at the age of seven. He later joined Greater Mount Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, but his final church membership rested at Anderson United Methodist Church where he served in the Young Adult Ministry, Hospitality and Family Ministries and the Sanctuary Choir. Growing up in Jackson, Mississippi, Walter attended Johnson Elementary, Brinkley Middle School and Provine High School. He earned his Associated Degree from Hinds Community College and his Bachelors in Special Education from Jackson State University. Walter was furthering his education at Belhaven University with a plan to earn his Master's Degree (MSL) in Leadership. Walter began his teaching career in the Jackson Public School System and worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant.
Walter was an educator at heart. He was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. Walter took pride in teaching his nephews and nieces the importance of giving back to their communities through service. Walter was active in many community activities that changed the lives of many people. In the spring of 2013, Walter became a member of the lota Phi Theta Fraternity, where he served in several capacities such as Chapter Advisor (Delta Psi), National Pan Hellenic Council and State Director (Mississippi).
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. at Greater Mount Bethel C.O.C.H. USA, located at 4125 Robinson Road - Jackson, MS.
Interment will follow at Society Ridge Cemetery in Pocahontas, Mississippi
