Mr. William Eslis "Bill" Travis was the second child born to Marcell Hall Travis and the late Eslis Travis, Sr., on January 26, 1958, in Hinds County, Mississippi.
He confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Charity Baptist Church the leadership of the late Pastor Robert L. Luckett, Sr. In 2003, Bill rededicated his life to Christ and on July 23, 2019, made another public confession under the leadership of Dr. Bennie L. Ervin.
Bill was educated in the Jackson Public School District, graduating from Callaway High School in 1976. Bill was employed with Bekins Moving Company for 12 years, the City of Ridgeland for 8 years and as a self-employed painter for several years. William “Bill” married the love of his life, Vicki Moore on October 13, 1980, and shared a life together for 39 years. God blessed this union with three children, Tamara, Samara, and William, Jr.
Bill was a fun-loving person with very few words, but he always managed to say something funny that only “Bill” would say. He was also affectionally known as “THE WATCHMAN” for the 800 Block of Blanche Lowe Drive.
Passing into eternity when life has been sweet, is like going from one room into a larger and more beautiful one. So, it was with the passing of our beloved Bill. On Wednesday, August 21, 2019, William Eslis Travis peacefully transitioned into eternal rest. A place where there is no more sorrow, nor pain, nor death. His sisters: Terry Silva and Chimere Travis preceded him in death.
