Mrs. Catherine McClently Taylor was a Christian Mother and Deaconess her heavenly home going celebration began on Monday, November 5, 2018, in Jackson, MS. Mother Catherine is the daughter of the late Mr. Willie and Mrs. Della Russell- McClenty. She was born on October 20, 1924.
Catherine confessed Christ at an early age at China Grove M.B. Church. she was a faithful worker there and even still sent her dues thereafter she married and followed her husband to Cedar Grove.
Catherine was united in holy matrimony to Clarence Taylor "Flunk-a-Do" on July 25, 1942, and to this union, one child was born Della Delores. They also helped rais a foster child, Tony Jones. Mother Catherine was the oldest deaconess at Cedar Grove. She became a deaconess when her husband, Clarence was crowned a deacon at Cedar Grove Church over 60 years ago under Rev. James McClenty, her paternal uncle.
Visitation hours will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018, between the hours of 12-6 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home, Family and Friends hour will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2018, also at Peoples Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Grove Baptist Church located at 1425 Pocahontas Road - Jackson, MS 39213. Interment will promptly follow at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery
