Mrs. Emma R. Erving was born on November 21, 1945, to the late Mr. Homer Roby Jr. and the late Mrs. Bessie Harmon Roby in Sallis, Mississippi. She attended Long Creek High School in Sallis, Mississippi, where she received her High School Diploma in 1963. She became to know and love God at an early age and was a faithful member of Hill Springs M.B. Church until she relocated to Zion Travelers M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Watkins. She became a member of the Mother Board where she served until her death.
Mother Erving was united in Holy Matrimony to George L. Erving on March 10, 1966. Two children were the blessing of this union and another legally added afterwards. Mother Erving was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend for many but to her grandchildren, she was the epitome of "Madear." Peacefully Mother Erving transitioned from her earthly journey on August 24, 2018, in Jackson, Mississippi
Visitation hours will be Friday, August 31, 2018, between the hours of 12-7 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home, Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Travelers M.B. Church located at 982 W. Pearl Street - Jackson, MS. Interment will follow at Smyrina Cemetery in West, Mississippi.
