Mrs. Janice Laura Morris was born on October 11, 1953, in Jackson, MS, to the late Mr. Clarence Morris, and Mrs. Annie Morris. To this union, they were blessed with one daughter Janice Morris.
Janice, adolescent years were spent mostly in South Jackson. She attended Forest Hill High School, where she graduated in 1971. Janice attended Jackson State University for two years majoring in Business Administration.
Janice, accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Pleasant Methodist Church, she was a dedicated member and exemplified her Godly talents through serving others and her heavenly Father. As Mount Pleasant transitioned to what is now Middlebrook Methodist Church. Janice responsibilities expanded, which included church secretary and a valuable member of the United Methodist Women Association.
Janice, began her career in March 1974, at Trustmark Bank in the Transit Department as a processing clerk. Janice was a dedicated worker and was a devoted employee for five years She developed new skills and friendship along the way that were vital to her success. In 1979 she joined the Department of Human Services family as a file clerk. Janice was a diligent worker, which helped her to be promoted several times. During her 28 year tenure, she served as Office Manager for two years at the Mississippi Fith Based Coalition Office after retiring from the Department of Human Services.
Janice, was a very soft spoken individual, with a very friendly demeanor, she was a loving mother to her only son Jarvis and a great mother-in-law, to his wife Shameka. She loved socializing with her family and friends, traveling, eating out, and shopping throughout the country. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Public Viewing will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018, from 2-7 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home, located at 886 N. Farish Street- Jackson, MS 39202
Mrs. Morris will repose at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Middlebrook United Methodist Church, located at 115 Maddox Road - Jackson, MS 39212 with her funeral service promptly starting at 11:00 a.m.
