Mrs. Mae Pearl Hunter daughter of the late Pearl Frazier and Ida Davis, was born January 24, 1926, in Hinds County, Utica, Mississippi. She departed this life on March 7, 2019, in Novato California.

Mae Pearl joined Little Mount Church at an early age and was a devoted member throughout her life. She attended Little Rock Elementary School in Utica and Lanier High School in Jackson, Mississippi, and attended Jackson State College to obtain her teaching credential. She taught elementary school prior to marring Albert Hunter who was also from Utica. They traveled to many stated prior to settling in Albany New York.

After the dissolution of that marriage, she returned to Mississippi to care for her parents and worked at the VA Hospital in Jackson as a Nursing Assistant. Later she married Johnny B. Cooper and eventually left her position at the VA Hospital to devote more time to her aging parents.

After the passing of her parents, she moved to Novato California to live with her sister, Helen Gentry and became very active in the Novato United Methodist Church, though gone in spirit Mae Pearl beautiful laughter and love will still live on in the hearts of many both near and far.


Arrangements:

Visitation hours will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019, between the hours of 12-7 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home, located at 886 N. Farish Street - Jackson, Mississippi. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Little Mt CME Church located at 1152 Little Mt. Road in Utica, MS 39175. Interment will follow at Little Mt CME Church Cemetery.
