 Mrs. Myrtle Manuel Paige transitioned on July 16, 2019, in Jackson, Mississippi. Myrtle was born on April 5, 1932, in Madison, Mississippi to Mary M. Manuel, who preceded her in death. She was the oldest of three children, two brothers also preceded her in death.

The family moved to Jackson, MS, where Myrtle attended Smith Robinson Elementary School and graduated from Lanier High School in 1950. After graduation Myrtle enlisted in the United States Air Force, where she met her future husband Walter C. Paige, Sr. and to this union, one son was born.

After her time in the military, Myrtle returned to Jackson, MS to complete her education at Jackson State College (University). She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Elementary and went on to attain her Master's degree.

At an early age, Myrtle United at Blair St AME Zion church. She moved her membership to Cathedral AME Zion now pastored by Rev. Gary D. Adam's, Sr. Myrtle served faithfully on the usher board, the mothers' board, as well as a member of The Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Myrtle Paige was an elementary school teacher with the Jackson Public School System. She taught for nearly thirty-five years and retired in 1992.

After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, venturing out on several cruises, and taking many road trips. 

Over the years Myrtle touched the lives of so many both near and far and her presence of love and laughter will be deeply missed. 


Public viewing will be Saturday, July 20, 2019, from 12-7 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home Chapel, located at 886 N. Farish Street - Jackson, MS 39202

Funeral service will be held Monday, July 22, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Cathedral AME Church - located at 428 W. Northside Dr. Jackson, MS 39206

Interment: Garden Memorial Cemetery
