Mrs. Nettie Allen was born the fifth of twelve children of the late Zack Bruse and Manwilla Smith in Flora, Mississippi on November 25, 1917.
Nettie Mac (Madea) accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at Wilson Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Madison County. Afterwards, she joined Brownville Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. L. M. Robinson. She was a faithful choir member, served on the mother board, and an active member of the Mission Society. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Madison County. When her family moved to Jackson, Mississippi, she joined Fairview Missionary Baptist Church later renamed the Greater Fairview M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Dr. S. L. Spann where she was a faithful church member and served on the mother board (Golden Girls Ministry) until her health failed. Her gifted talent was shared with anyone that she met as a baker and a seamstress.
On Saturday, July 14, 2018, she quietly entered the loving arms of Jesus. Her transition was a very peaceful home going. she is now resting with her husband of 78 years, Ceaser Allen, Sr. daughters, Lillie Mac Jackson and Minnie B. Allen, grandson, James Perkins, great-granddaughter Tatiyana Allen and great-grandsons, Tyler, Taylor & Montavius Allen.
Visitation hours are from 12-6 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home on August 3, 2018, Wake service will be held August 3, 2018, from 6-7p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on August 4, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Greater Fairview Baptist Chuch located at 2545 Newport Street Jackson, MS 39213. Interment will follow at Garden Memorial Cemetery, Jackson, MS.
