Rev. Charles Lamar Branch, Sr. transitioned unto the Lord on Friday, May 17, 2019, in Jackson, Mississippi, surrounded by some of his loving family. The Management and staff of Peoples Funeral Home are deeply saddened on the passing of Rev. Branch, for he was a trusted longtime employee, with heart and dedication, and was the state "Best Embalmer" during his time at Peoples.
Charles Lamar Branch, Sr. was born in Jackson, MS on March 16, 1949, to Ethel and George Branch. He received Christ in his early years at Friendship Baptist Church. Later on, he joined Cade Chapel Baptist Church under the ministry of Pastor Horace Buckley.
In 1985, Charles met and married Brenda Joyce Lee Branch, where formed a family that consisted of three children: Marianna Cheryl, Demetrius, Charles, Jr., and Grace.
Charles education journey begin in the Jackson Public School District and was a proud graduate of Brinkley High School. He attended Jackson State University but decided to enlist in the Army. He served as Specialist in Vietnam from 1971 to 1973.
After serving his time in the military, Charles begins his career journey as mortician with People’s Funeral Home. He was the best in the field, where he mentored those pursuing the field. While working as a mortician, he found his calling in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, where he pastored at Vaiden Friendship Church in Vaiden, MS before taking ill. Charles was a member of Masonic Lodge #240 and American Legion Post #112.
Visitation hours will be held on Friday, May 24, 2019, between the hours of 12-6 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home. Family and Friends hour will be held on May 24, 2019, from 6-7 p.m. Peoples Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Cade Chapel located at 1000 W. Ridgeway Street - Jackson, MS 39213. Interment will follow at Autumn Woods Cemetery - Jackson, Mississippi.
